RETREAT:

Retreat begins on March 23rd. You will be picked up in Iquitos that morning from your hotel. We suggest flying in the day before.

SUGGESTIONS BEFORE RETREAT:

It is highly recommended to follow the ayahuasca diet that is outlined in the “ayahuasca” tab. In order to get the most healing and effective experience, cleansing the body will be required. In addition we suggest to also purify the mind by detoxing from many forms of media. Reducing consumption of media as retreat approaches is a good idea. Five days before retreat we suggest limiting social media to what you are comfortable but as close to zero consumption. To support our participants, we are offering a two-week daily support system to prepare the mind/body/spirit. We are offering morning virtual zoom sessions with meditation, breathing exercises and group processing. In addition, we will also have 2 group evening sessions to provide guidance and preparation.

WHAT TO BRING:

The climate is usually hot and humid, although the nights could be cool. Here’s the minimum that we recommend you bring:

–3 t-shirts and 1 long sleeve t-shirt

–2 pairs of shorts and 1 pair of long pants

–1 sweater –  Swim wear – Towel–  Poncho or Jacket–Sandals – Water bottle

– Flashlight with batteries –Mosquito repellent gel – Sunscreen – Sunglasses

-Boots (or footwear you don’t mind getting muddy) NOTE: Rubber boots are sold at very low prices (about 6 US) in Iquitos. However, it is almost impossible to find boots bigger than size 11 (43) in Iquitos.

INSURANCE:

We know many people don’t think about the need for insurance when traveling, but the unexpected can always happen and if you need to cancel your visit to us you could lose your deposit or even the full cost of the retreat. We therefore strongly advise all our guests to arrange Personal Accident and Travel/Cancellation Insurance when booking onto one of our retreats.

Blessings and highest Regards,

AYAHUASCA DIET

“The plant diets are designed to help a person connect with the spirits of the plants, and to develop new healing capabilities, vision, and sight; they require much time in solitude and a strict dietary regimen….[W]hen you follow the required diet, the spirit world is more accessible.”

Alan Shoemaker, Ayahuasca Medicine: The Shamanic World of Amazonian Sacred Plant Healing

DIET GUIDELINES:

AVIOD:

Pork

Red meat

Aged cheeses

Fermented foods like soy sauce, fermented tofu

Nutritional supplements like protein powders

Aspartame

Chocolate (in large amounts)

Peanuts (in large amounts)

Salt (i.e. canned and processed foods)

Refined sugar (i.e. sweets and junk food)

Spicy food

Dairy

Oils

Caffeine

Prescription Drugs (2 weeks leading up to the ceremony, we strongly suggest that you stop the following prescription drugs Antidepressants like SSRIs, MAO-inhibitors, Sleep medications, Barbiturates, Alpha- and beta-blockers)

Street Drugs (These include cocaine, amphetamines, opiates, marijuana, and MDMA.)

It’s also best to avoid other psychedelics like LSD and psilocybin.

Sex

(Avoid sexual activity, including masturbation, two weeks before and after a ceremony. Why remove sexual activity is due to it bit a powerful energetic exchange which can deplete your reservoir of energy available to you and thus inhibit the effectiveness of the plants to teach you.)

Ayahuasca first clears toxins that we collect in our bodies. Vincent Ravalee explains further in The Psychotropic Mind ”When you clear those toxins ahead of time, it’s easier for ayahuasca to work in your body because there’s less “static” to cut through. By following the diet, you ensure your ability to make the most of the experience and reach deeper levels of psychospiritual understanding.”
